Jane, a retired professional who enjoys being active was soon back on the road to exercise “as if by magic!”
Running, cycling, swimming and generally being active. Jane enjoys all forms of exercise, yet when pain was limiting what she could do she got in touch.
What were you unable or struggling to do? How did this affect you physically/emotionally/socially?
“I developed a worsening pain on the outside of my right hip when load-bearing, which meant I was no longer able to run or exercise. My gait whilst running and walking became lopsided, I had little power on my right side. I had difficulty going upstairs or uphill, and had trouble reaching down to dry my right foot.
As someone who likes to exercise very regularly by running, swimming and cycling, I found it frustrating not to be able to run, with consequent knock-on effects to my emotions (just ask my husband!) and sense of well-being.
As well as the physical impact of being uncomfortable even with ordinary everyday activity.”
What have you been able to do since working with Nick?
“Over a 3 sessions, Nick assessed me and prescribed specific exercises appropriate for me.
I was able to resume running gently and then build up over the following weeks to return to my usual distances and pain free running.”
What would have happened if you had not booked an appointment with Nick?
“Nick has been able to help me recover from several different running-related pains in the last 6 years. I am impressed that he always wants to get to the cause of the problem, which is frequently nowhere near the site of the pain!
He provides exercises and advice to enable me to help myself both at the time and, if necessary, at a later date.
The improvement often seems magical, but is, of course, based on his great scientific understanding and approach to getting bodies to work as they should do.
I know that I do not have to soldier on with physical pain in the hope that it will get better.”
