Physiotherapy for low back pain

Physiotherapy for low back pain: Alison lives her big dream of having a small holding

Physiotherapy for low back pain: As a retired nurse practitioner living on a small holding the countrside, Alison enjoys a physcially demanding lifestyle.
She understands the importance of managing her spine and her physical health to maintain her dream of running a small holding where she looks after chickens, ponies, sheep, dogs and hedgehogs.

She has been to my physiotherapy clinic several physical health conditions including thoracic spine and rib fractures, acute torticollis (Wry neck) as well as hip and low back pain.

Each time Alison has come to my physiotherapy clinic for help with a physical health issue or pain. She has been treatment, education and strategies for her self management of her spine. More importantly, every time she leaves she is then able to return to ‘full duties’ on her small holding: “the animals won’t feed themselves!”

Here is what Alison has to say about managing her spine:

“I have been to see Nick on several occaisions and after each session I leave feeling significantly better.

I have experienced other practitioners. These include hospital physios and a chiropractor. NHS physiotherapy services have all been kind, polite and knowledgeable, but often within an extremely busy department and with obvious time constraints.

Appointments with Nick are much more relaxed and focussed, I feel that I am not just another person on the list to be got through before the end of the day. I also enjoy the explanations such as how stress can affect the tasks we do and how our environments influence us physically and can cause problems. The aspect that I really appreciate is the step by step explanation of what you are doing and the thoughts behind these actions.”

As a physiotherapist, I can help and guide you back to what you love to do.
